SEOUL, Aug. 31 (Yonhap) -- A popular South Korean singer has been selected to serve as a public relations ambassador for the Ralph Lauren collection from September, the singer's management firm said Thursday.

Bi, often called the Korean Justin Timberlake, has recently been invited by Ralph Lauren himself to be one of his "Friends" who are supposed to promote his internationally acclaimed fashion brand, JYP Entertainment said.

"This shows that Bi is now fully acknowledged as one of the world stars," it said in a statement.

The 24-year-old Korean singer, who has gained popularity in Asia, was named by Time Magazine in April as one of the 100 most influential figures worldwide. He was the first Asian entertainer to hold a concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City in February.

"His versatility has appealed to Mr. and Mrs. Laurens. Not only the masculinity, but the tenderness at the same time has attracted the whole Asia. Mr. Lauren is also willing to help his career in the United States," the Korean subsidiary of the Ralph Lauren Corporation also said in the same statement.

"His official schedule as a Ralph Lauren ambassador will be set soon. He will also be called to appear at the Ralph Lauren shows," it said.

Ralph Lauren reportedly has been reluctant so far to select Asian stars as his Friends.

Broke my own record today by being in school for 10 hours. Lessons started at 8am. Clashed Japanese Language (level2) lecture at 10am. Took lunch in Deck at 12noon. Headed over to Science Faculty at 1pm. Loitered around Science for 1 hour while waiting for Eileen-chan to finish tutorial. I was forced to loiter around because the place was packed with people, the canteen was crowded, the benches outside the LTs were also seated with people. So the only thing I could do was WALK AROUND.

I walked from the S13 to canteen, canteen to co-op, co-op to canteen again, canteen to S3. I was also trying to do something useful while the walk around Science. I was finding S2 but I got lost when I reach S3. Those not familar will know what I am talking about. From S3 I walked back to canteen and then to S13 again. On the way back I was also trying to find empty seats... In the end I gave up and went to sit at the bus-stop. After Eileen-chan's tutorial ended (luckily it was only one hour), we set off again in search of the mysterious S2!!! Walked to the place I got lost and Eileen-chan suggested we take the lift since it was the only thing that goes up. Got out at 5th floor and walah.. S3 and there's sign board that reads S2... walked the corridor and finally saw the sign LS Lab 7A.

The place was like a maze, kinda scary if you were alone and trying to find the place. For pictures from S2, look up Eileen-chan's blog.. she took the "nice" scencery from the block.. Haa

Found out yesterday that one of my secondary school mate will be in the same chinese project group. I was suspecting whether it was her as I recognise the surname and christian name. Haa.. finally confirmed that it was her when she logged online. Yeah, finally I get to meet someone I know this year.

Do I look foreign? I never thought that I looked foreign until today someone asked if I was from China... -_-''' I don't consider myself fair or anywhere near there and I don't think my eyes are that almond-shaped(okay, I am kinda stereotyping here)... But honestly... do I look foreign in any way??

My timetable is finalised. Chinese tutorial somehow managed to ruin my plan of having a 4-day week. I guess it's still not that bad that the tutorial is only on an even week basis. The ones in pink are my tutorials and I only need to attend them every other week while the blue ones are my lectures are there's no way I could skip them because they all don't have webcasting.

Came across something that totally mesmerise me while i was blog-jumping. In one of the blogs I came across, I saw a video of sand art and it took my breath away. It felt so serence and calm watching it. Just amazed at the artists' talent in creating beautiful pictures using sand, their fingers and plain imagination.

Below are some links to the videos of their sand animation:

Ferenc Cako

SICAF 2003
Story Of The Old Castle - Keep in mind that it's all sand. The story-line is in japanese but by watching the whole animation you are able to figure out what happen.

Finally found a way to convert MOV files to WMA. I combined the pieces together and got the fireworks video to work. YEAH!!! Although the real show is like 13 minutes long, the video of mine is less than 1 minute. Nonetheless, hope you enjoy it.

School just started and I am already feeling lethargic. It's only the first week and I have no idea how I am going to survive through this semester. I think I am going to fall sick soon too. Woke up at 11.30am and I still felt sleepy and drowsy. Is it the weather or what? The air around me just feels so still and heavy. The lectures were still okay. Lecturers for my geography modules are eccentric and insane especially for my GE3210. It was a very good welcome to me; at least I wouldn't be sleeping through the lectures since it starts at 8am. Today's also the balloting for the tutorials; I am keeping all my fingers and toes crossed for getting the timings I want.

Later i will be going for my Forensic Science lecture which is 7pm to 10pm. Insanity is what I have to say for my timetable this semester. But I am really looking forward to this lecture since it's a new one and really different from other modules. Think CSI... haha

At the Esplanade on saturday (12 Aug 2006) opposite the Fullerton. These pictures are not taken by me but by my brother, he hogged the camera so I had no chance to use it.

The stupid tree blocked the upper half fireworks and partial-ly ruined the pictures.

This last photo was only the best one that was taken and was clear. I am still figuring out a way to combine the various snippets of the fireworks video.

Wo.. Just came back from the fireworks display at Esplanade. It was already crowded when we reached there and it was only 7.30pm. Waited for 1 1/2 hour and during that time I was doing next to nothing, staring into the hazy night sky, couldn't even see a single star. The display was beautiful although the beginning was a bit messy but the best part was towards the end where the different coloured fireworks were lighted and the last segment was all golden. May be putting up some photos and video(s) up tomorrow but it was not taken very good as there was a tree blocking the way... In the end, I could only catch the bottom and middle part of the fireworks. But overall it was good, if there's another such event next year, I will want to go again, but earlier to get a better view.

Yesterday was the day the atomic bomb dropped in Japan. Only realised it when I got back home from dinner and saw the documentary 'Hiroshima' on Discovery channel. It was heart-wrenching when it came to the part where the documentary talked about how the civilians suffered the pain and agony of radiation exposure. I almost feel like crying. Presently, there's only one sole survivor (eighty years old now) left who had witnessed the scene when the bomb dropped.

At the end of the documentary, asked if the bomb was really neccessary for the Japanese to surrender since the Americans knew very well that the Japanese had not eaten rice for a whole year, I guess there are lots of debate going over it until now.

Just finished watching Princess Mononoke, a classic Japanese animation. Not really suitable for young children though because there were scenes that were gruesome, human parts flying off bodies and blood spilling everywhere. But the plot of the animation touches my heart in the deepest place. It reminded strongly about how human beings are destroying nature for their own greed, not practicing sustainability and disregarding the fact that nature is not able to heal itself quick enough to keep in pace of the destroying. The protagonist, Ashitaka, in this story is like the middle-man for both the humans and nature, wanting peace instead of the battle to take place to see who owns the rich land. But in the end, the humans finally see the destruction they had brought to the land they were on.
Miyazaki Kantoku says the following:
"We are not trying to solve the global problems. There can not be a happy ending to the fight between the Raging Gods and humans. However, even in the middle of hatred and killings, there are things worth living for. A wonderful meeting, or a beautiful thing can exist."

Try this little quiz... kinda true in some parts (for me that is).

Here is what it says of me:

You are a sensitive person and often find yourself daydreaming about your past and future. You are quite conservative and the values that your parents and teachers instilled in you still play an important part in your decision making. You are tough, hard-working and responsible. When you are assigned to do something, you will do your best no matter how difficult the job at hand might be.

You are always wilful and most of the time, you are a stubborn person. But you love to work and is quite honest, which makes you good to get along with as a friend or lover. You are logical, smart and inventive. Sometimes you are too cold and selfish.
