The first day of reception work. It was still alright because there's another person helping me and I am in charge of the easier stuff like the handing out of Caltex vouchers and giving cabbies their road tax. But when the cabbies all gang up to meet at one particular time, it was a major headache. Some asking to check this and that, others complaining and ranting about their passengers, MAN!!! They are like little mad children with no discipline at all... (Not all the cabbies though) There's this particular driver whom I told him to wait for a while while I have to call in to make sure the officer he's looking for is available. He couldn't wait and just barged right in (T_T); lucky the manager was not around at that time. He came out a little while and even gave me this sneering look. I should have just used the stack of papers I was holding at that time to hit him in the face... So frustrating!!

Then on the way home traveling in the train, there's this office lady standing right to me. At that time the train was very packed and I noticed a (blue collar) foreign worker (I think he did some shopping and was carrying a big blue plastic bag.) standing next to me and the lady. After one stop, this lady called someone and begins to complain about how stuffy the place was, how she was being squeezed into the corner. Then the wonderful part came, she started to complain about the foreign worker in an ambiguous way but anyone else who has heard her could straight away pin-point who she was talking about. She said something like she hates men who are smelly and stinky and this person is standing beside her, how she's being cornered by this man, then she goes into she thinks the man is not local, how stuffy the whole place is (Again), blah blah blah... I was thinking: If the place is stuffy, get off the train and wait till the train is not packed anymore, or just take a cab home. If you are being cornered, you can move, you have got legs. Even though the train was packed, one loud "EXCUSE ME" is able to get people moving away from you. The man is stinking: She's taller than the man, I am shorter than the man, I don't smell anything (ok, maybe my nose is blocked). But still I think you could at least bear with it for a few minutes if not get off the train. And please do not whine over the phone in the cramped train, everyone listens.
What I would like to suggest to that man: buy deodorant.

Another week has gone by and tomorrow's the release of my results. *Screams* I will be praying very hard that the results are satisfactory and that it will not affect my already bad CAP score.

Yeah... I finally finished calling the cabbies, telling them to come down to the office to collect cheques and to make appointment with their officers. Some are very nice while some just make me speechless. I will be starting reception work next week and got a little taste of how it's like towards the evening by observing one of the colleagues. So scary!!! Especially when a few of them come at the same time looking for different people and demanding different things. How to handle them at one go? I really admire that colleague and she's younger than me by a year... I can imagine all the stress. Others tell me to be calm and firm while dealing with nasty ones and if in need to scold them back... How to? I don't know how to scold and what to scold... Let's see how it goes next week.

I am down with flu. Still having discomforts at the throat (hoping that it will get better over the weekends as I do not have to call anyone) and the blocked nose seems to restrict oxygen flow to my brain making me sleepy and extra tired. I still cannot sleep yet... Must persevere until after 11pm because I want to watch "Dae Jang Geum". ^_^

Today's my first day of work after being called up yesterday. Now working at Premier Taxi company. I have never in my life called so many cabbies in a day and repeat the same lines for so long. Although I only had to call, I suddenly felt exhausted and sleepy. Please don't let me be sick in the start of the work week. My throat started to sore yesterday and I had been sucking Fisherman's Friend for the whole day and drinking water but it's still there, at the back of the throat. I think I have caught a cold from somewhere.

Oops... Yesterday didn't come back online to blog about Saturday's outing because I slept till 9.30 p.m. then went back to sleep again at 12 midnight. I was woke up this morning at 10+ a.m. by a call from KG regarding a job offer. I got the contacts and called them and in 2 hours time, I was confirmed and will be starting work tomorrow. Oh ya.. yesterday when I was out with my parents I saw Famous Amos trying to hire a full/part time worker at the Specialist Centre. My younger brother wanted me to join (I was thinking about it then too) so that I can learn how to bake the cookies like them but my mom relented due to the time I needed to travel from home to Somerset. Moreover, I don't think that working part-time there I would be able to know the whole recipe and stuff becasue it's like the company's secret.

I got complimentary tickets to Dick's Lee "Man of Letters" musical all thanks to Hui Fang. Went out of the house at around 11.45 a.m. to meet YL to collect the tickets from Hui Fang because she's working in Orchard. That was like the fourth time I stepped onto Orchard Road in two weeks. After collecting the tickets, did a brief shopping in HMV becasue YL wanted to buy some classical CD. I saw the "My Girl and I" DVD and wanted to buy but didn't know if it will work on the computer so I decided not to buy in case I couldn't play it.

After that we head to UCC for the play at 3pm. We reached there half an hour earlier and when we stepped in we were soon approached by 3 people asking if we were there for the tea. I guess YL and me had blank looks on our faces that they asked again and added one more phrase: "Here for the tea or the play?". Haha.. When we said for the play the people were kind of embarrassed and we walked away quickly. Took part in a short survey for the musical and had a go at a little lucky dip. The lady in front of us won a bottle of fragrance water (those types used in the olden days, can be still found in some shophouses). Next came YL turn, she won a face towel, those white ones and very cheap types. I suggested that she can bring that home and use it as a table cloth ^_^. My turn came and I got something sweet... 2 pieces of rabbit sweets, those milk ones.. Haha.. After that, the theatre hall allowed entry and we waited inside for the musical to begin. the whole play was about 2 hours with a 15 minutes interval. The musical was good. If I have another chance to go to another musical, I would not hesitate to say yes.

After the musical, we rushed down to Causeway point to meet up with some college classmates. And as usual Daniel is late again. After waiting for everyone to reach, we went to buy the tickets for "Over the Hedge" and then went for dinner at Pastamania. I got the Ocean Baked Pasta. I think it was a little too watery but overall was okay. I also had Italian Soda, strawberry flavoured. I didn't know it was such a big cup but it was fizzy and not too cloyingly sweet. The movie was great. I like Hammy (the squirrel) the best. He's an affectionate little guy and hyper fast and active. You should go watch it and see what happens towards the end when he drank caffine.

My legs have deserted me. Woke up at 5 a.m. in the morning to join my family in the Big Walk today. I didn't plan the walk initially because I didn't ask to go in the first place. My elder brother suddenly said that he wasn't going to go (after registrating himself and his girlfriend) late last night when I reached home. He said that since his girlfriend was very busy with the marking of papers (she's a teacher), she's not going to go and then after a while he said that he wasn't going to go. So then, there were two extra spots and since my mom couldn't find anyone to fill in the now vacant spot. Then, my mother turned to me and asked, the moment which I was not prepared for. I striked a deal with my mom saying that if my younger brother was able to wake up at 5 a.m. in the morning and that he was going I would join them too. Big Mistake I made there!!! I should have drugged him last night with sleeping pills.

The Walk itself was okay considering that I have to WALK only and not do anything. But my brother was speeding away with his long legs while I was trying to catch up with my short legs. After a while, I just gave up keeping up with him and walked at my own speed (which is much faster than some others present there, but still slower than my brother's). At around the halfway mark, I saw and heard something that caught everyone's attention. Remember the infamous Falun Gong association? Yup, they were there too, equipped with loud music speakers, big yellow banners and lots of people (from the young in strollies to the elderly) from that association, walking the 10km together. But upon the destination point, they dispersed very quickly, alomst at a blink of an eye.

After the whole walk, I was soaked through with perspiration and kind of stinky. My brother then suggested that we get lunch at a hotel. I alomost mentally freaked out, I mean, after the tiring two and a half hours of walking, everyone is so tired and stinking and imagine going in to a hotel to eat!! I think people will shun that place in the instant we stepped in. Haa.. lucky that I brought deodorant a set of clothes to change into. My dad brought us to Hotel Phoneix's Garden Cafe for a buffet lunch. The place was kind of filled at that moment, perhaps most of them were tourists who stayed in the hotel. Although I was surprised that I wasn't very hungry after the walk, maybe I had drank too much water to replenish my system, I managed to try most of the things there, especially the dessert section.

The roti prata was absolutely delicious and cripsy thin, the way i like it not like those in the hawker centre where it's soggy and the prata at the hotel is made right in front of you the moment you order it. My dad, mom and brother tried the laksa which I heard was good, I didn't try it because I was afraid that it would upset my stomach especially after exercising. The chicken rice was also not bad as the rice is quite good (not sticking as a lump and not very oily) but I feel that it was lacking in the pandan fragrance. The dessert section was wonderful. I love the strawberry mousse cake, not too sweet nor sour, just nice with sponge cake beneath it. I wanted to try the chocolate mousse but when I got there, the bowl was empty. The pandan cake available was similar to Bengawan Solo's, the three layers of pandan flavoured agar-agar and in between then the two layers of sponge cake. The chocolate brownie with walnut garnished on top was too sweet for my liking and it was crunchy to the bite and had only a little chocolate on top (I like brownies that are moist and full of chocolate chips inside. Sinful, I know ^_^). After these, I wanted to head back again to try the chocolate mousse but I was too full already and my legs were also failing me from the long walk and the many trips back and forth between the table and the food.

After the lunch, we went to the Singapore Mint. I heard from my mom that dad has just took up coin collection in the beginning of this year so he was there to enquire about some stuff. At that time, the shop's staff was about to leave for lunch break, they had even off some lights already. It was kind of them to service the last customer before heading to their lunch break, I hope the staff who attended my dad had extended lunch break because it took up almost 20 minutes of her break. After that, I was on the verge of collapsing already from all the walking and the crazy crowd at Orchard Road. Finally we were going to go back home and here I am blogging when I really want to sleep.

I will come back later to blog about yesterday's night outing. Now I want to sleep so bad...

Finished watching "My Name is Kim Sam Soon" yesterday. It was a really good show. Why? Because the lead actress, Sam-soon, is a certified patiesseur. I want to be like her. To be able to bake all kinds of pastries, cakes, and cookies. The mini-series also has lots of little quotes for its viewers to ponder about. Below are some:

1. Good men are ugly looking

2. Cute guys have lousy personalities

3. Cute guys with good character are married

4. Cute guys with good character, and single are poor

5. Cute, good character, single and rich guys aren't interested in us

6. Cute, good character, single, rich guys and interested in us those guys are players

7. Cute, good character, single, rich, guys who are interested in us and are not players...are gays

Haa.. There are many more so if you have the time, go watch it on Youtube... There are "shuai(4) ge(1)" inside... drools hahaha...(^_^) I started another drama, it's called My Sister-In-Law Is 19 (aka. My 19 Year Old Sister-In-Law). The first episode had me crying when the little girl was abandoned, so saddening!! But after the first episode the comedy begins, so far I have just watched 3 episodes so I still cannot say if it is a good drama or not.

I have started to learn the basics of the Korean language just last night. I find that its structure is easier than chinese characters. Or maybe I may be wrong as I just learned some only? Haa.. Anyways, so far, I have learnt the consonant "h" ,"n", "m", the silent placeholder and vowels "a", "o", "u". Tonight I am going to learn more consonants and vowels. I have printed out some notes, looks kind of complicated but will try my best to memorise it. I hope that by the end of my holidays I would at least know how to read and write some basic Korean. If my school provides Korean language classes, I am sure to attend them. The understanding of Korean may take a longer time so that will be next on the agenda after learning the basics. In the meantime, I will watch more korean dramas. Muh-haha =) ...

Just came back not long ago from an interview in Somerset. All thanks to Huiyu for introducing the job agency to me and telling me the way to Faber House. Lucky that I didn't get lost on the way there. Now I have to wait for their confirmation if the company wants me or not. Got the call from the agency at around 1.10pm and the interview was supposed to be at 2.3opm. But I boarded the train at 2pm, in the end I called the agency up and told them I will late and postponed to 3pm... I hope this won't leave a bad impression on the person. Anyway the interview was kind of okay, she went through the things I filled up in the application form and told me some details of the job that was available at the moment. Hmm.. That company deals with cigarettes. Such an irony... I don't like people who smoke and if it's successful I wil be working there. I got mixed feelings when I heard the job offer but I will be working in the office so I think it would be still okay. I have not tell my parents about the interview today yet, planning to do so tonight and see what their reaction will be like... Yikes.

Changed my blogskin to this one as I think the previous one was a bit too 'black' for my liking. This one is more refreshing and light and I think I would want to see such colours after a bad or busy day instead of something so 'black'. At least the current blogskin could lighten my mood up with its colours haha.. I am going to stick with this for a while and not change anymore in the meantime, takes up too much time just with the choosing and editing.

Today nothing interesting happened actually. Just went downstairs to eat dinner with the whole family. When my brothers and I took and put some food on my mom's plate, she was smilling like a child by the gestures we showed her. I got her a prawn and she was smiling saying that prawns symbolises laughter in cantonese. I am happy that she is happy. Although sometimes I do argue and quarrel with my mom, I feel that the bond between the mother and her children are inseparable. No matter how angry the parents are, in the end, they will still forgive the child. That's how great a parent's love is to their child. Although I do not say out loud that I love them and stuff because I am bought up in a rather traditional family, but I do care about them in little ways like finding some common topics to talk about when they are just sitting around watching television.

Tomorrow is Mother's Day. I didn't get anything for my mom because I know it is not how expensive the gift is nor how many she receives that will make her happy, but it is the thought of remembering the times she had to overcome some difficulties in bringing us up that is important. But I am still going to share the expenses of tomorrow's outing with the rest of my family.

Today went to an informal interview for a company which is in Shaw Centre. Man... My friend and I got lost in Orchard Road... halfway through we went into a boutique in Paragon and asked for directions; the salespersons there were so nice and helpful and gave really detailed instructions. One lady salesperson had the whole map of Orchard Road memorise, I think, as she was able to know which underground escalator exit to which plaza and stuff... Amazed!! Anyways after thanking her, we followed the instructions but were still a little lost and confused after reaching Lido, haa, but we managed to get to the company's office after taking a chance with the elevator. If I were ever to work in Orchard, I think I would need to be there at least an hour earlier, as I will definitely be late because I will be so lost. Every building seems to be the same, especially with those classy boutiques and same pavements everywhere.

I am almost mentally dead tired after having to choose a blogskin from so many nice one and having to edit the html of the blogskin to include some features. A big THANK-YOU to people like Chun Xiang and Eileen-chan for helping me out with the blog things and having your blogs as a reference. I think there will be still some minor changes but those can wait.

These few days I have also been looking out for jobs but those companies who advertised hire people for more than 5 months. So disappointed that cannot get additional income for the holidays. Although I would like to slack, eat and drink all day at home but for 3 months is a bit too long. Luckily I found someone to accompany me to an informal interview tomorrow and I have no idea how it is goin to turn out. Hope for the the best though. Oh ya, I would also like to take this chance to say "Thanks" to Xiao Jing, Simon, Eileen-chan, Pewan, Gabriel and some more (I cannot remember right now) for helping me out in my resume compilation, you all have been a great help even if it was just to suggest a webpage that teaches you how to put one together or even to the extend of taking the time to help me go through it. Thanks again!!
