Saeng-il chuk-ha ham-ni-da!
(Wanted to post the Korean letters but blogger can't display them, by the way it means "Happy Birthday!")

Rain's birthday is today!!! Just found out in the afternoon when I was flipping through the Lifestyle section of Sunday Times.

My younger brother's birthday was yesterday. We went out for dinner. The first place we tried was the chinese restaurant in The Chevron but as my dad was trying to find a spot to park, I spotted a wedding car. True enough the whole place was booked for the wedding. Then we tried another nearby restaurant. At the multi-level carpark, the same thing occurred and the restaurant was again filled with wedding guests. Just our luck that my brother was born on such a lucky day that everyone wants to hold their wedding banquet.

On Friday I had dinner with my JC friends. It had been a long time since we met up altogether. Although this dinner was being planned one month in advance, many still couldn’t make it in the last minute. I really wished that they were able to make it. There's a lot that I want to catch up with. The dinner yesterday was at Somerset's Suki Sakura. The dinner was okay. The variety there was limited. Not as good as I have expected it to be. The mango salmon was terrible. The fish was very hard and dry; I think they cooked it too long in the gravy. The gravy also doesn't have the nice fragrance of the mango. The fresh oysters were still up to standard, but those large ones were kind of scary as it was really huge. Ate and gossiped for about 2 1/2 hours before leaving the place to head home. The rest of them had work in the next morning so they couldn't be out too late.

Here are some photographs of the day 06-06-06.

My family...

Eh... There were like 3 people taking this picture at that time so everyone had no idea who to look at...

This one is with both families (groom's and bride's) and some close relatives...

Wohoo!! Just finish checking my hotmail. I had not been online for a week and the mail box was flooded with emails. There was a total of 596 mails. O.o Most of it were from Youtube friends. Took some time clearing them. My reception partner will be flying to Thailand tomorrow and won't be going to work for a whole week... Sob sob... Lucky Nora (one of the colleagues) is helping me out. Hope that this week won't be having so many drivers coming in because she has her own pile of work to do too.

Started baking again. I baked a chocolate cake with fudge topping on tuesday's night and brought it to the office on wednesday. I checked the container on thursday morning and what's left was an empty container. Haa... Don't know whether to be happy or sad because at that time I wanted one piece of cake ^_^. Yesterday I bake a cake with lemon icing. The icing was not really solid enough like those sold in bakeries, instead I think I added too much lemon juice but overall my mom said it was alright.

My brother's wedding solemnization is today. I wanted to post photos onto the site but blogger had some problems uploading the photos. 06-06-06. "The date resembles "666", the supposed Mark of the Beast, and many people believe that one or more calamities may occur on this day." Hmm... Still wondering if it's a good day for such joyous occasion. But I guess it doesn't matter because my family members are not Christians. I am guessing that on 8th August 2008 and 9th September 2009, there will be lots of people wanting to solemnize or to hold such ceremonies since the number "8" and "9" embodies the meaning of wealth and longevity respectively. Today’s ceremony was held at Sembawang Park, Beaulieu House. I suppose it was to be a garden wedding type but everything was simple. Eh... A little too simple in my opinion and perhaps a little messy because I find the atmosphere a little awkward as the people who attended the ceremony were not really close family friends and relatives though both of my paternal aunties and one of my maternal aunts turned up. Oh well, if this is what the couple wanted then let it be. I am now waiting for the traditional Chinese wedding dinner to take place. =P

I wish the newly wedded couple bliss and happiness and that they will take good care of each other since they have decided to come together and live their lives with each other till they grow old. Ah... I suddenly remembered why I was uneasy during the ceremony. They did not exchange personalized wedding vows to one another (ok, maybe I watched too much television programmes).

Today was not a very pleasant day. I shall start complaining now... This afternoon after my lunch with my reception partner, there was this cabby. He was downright horrendous. The situation: He came in demanding his security deposit for his taxi because he has terminated his driving contract with the company. That time I called him and asked if he would like to collect it or to bank in the amount. He said he would like us to help him bank in. Then today he suddenly appeared wanting his cheque. I was told to call the main office in Balmoral to check if the cheque was ready and it was. What was needed was a colleague to go down to collect it. But the cabby was so impatient that he wants the cheque to appear miraculously on his hands. I had to explain to him about the banking-in procedures three times and he still won't listen. I told him if he wants the cheque he would have to wait till the colleague returns from the office in Balmoral. Guess what he replied to that... "What if he dies on the way back?" At that moment, I blew my top on him. We are already doing a favour by helping him transfer the money over and he dared to say such things. I guess my reception partner was shocked by my reaction at that time because so far I have not shown my temper to anyone but in this case it was just too much. How could he say such a thing??!! A million thanks to her in defending me after I left the reception area to find out if anyone made their way down to Balmoral. After I left everything was so blur, the finance lady from the Balmoral office called and tried to speak to me, outside was filled with cabbies. When I came back, my partner was on the phone with the office lady and I was told the cheque was banked in. I felt like the world was collapsing all because this stupid cabby couldn't wait for two day for the bank to process his money. Lucky there were senior staffs present to help me. In the end, he was pulled out of the reception area by one of the senior staff and he helped to diffuse the situation. Other colleagues heard the scenario and told me that he has attitude problems. -_-'' That was such a down-er for today.

But later in the day, an insurance lady bought us Delifrance pastries and tarts for us. My mood by that time was already better because I get to eat away the frustrations from earlier. =)

Ok... Now for something light-hearted. Yesterday at around 5pm. The Deputy Manger suddenly wants to talk to me. I frozed. At that time, my mind was on auto-mode in searching if I have had done anything wrong. "Do you know how to make coffee?" was the question asked. I should have had a blur look on my face because he asked the question two times. I manage to recover from the shock and replied that I do not know how to cause I do not drink coffee but drink only tea or milk tea. Now it was his turn to have the blur look. The expression was so hilarious I wanted to laugh out loud. Apparently I was told that he missed his coffee. The nickname I had for that day was "Coffee-girl".
