Today's the start of the bidding rounds. Found out that I actually don't need to bid for my major modules as they are already allocated to me. Now have to wait till round 1C to bid for my unrestricted module, CH2291: Chinese Tradition and round 2A for another breadth module. The reason as to why I will be taking the chinese module is because it's the only one taught in English and the syllabus looked interesting enough, other than that I won't be taking any other chinese modules as they have pre-requisites. Hope all goes well with the bidding and the tutorial balloting so that I do not need to re-set my timetable I have arranged.

Il Mare (2000)

Eun-ju is moving out of her seafront apartment named Il Mare, which means "the sea" in Italian. She leaves a Christmas card for the next tenant. In the card she wishes the new tenant Merry Christmas, welcoming him/her to Il Mare. Eun-ju has another reason for leaving the Christmas card: she is expecting an important letter, and leaves her new address so that the new tenant can re-direct her mail. At the end of the card she signs her name, and dates the card 1999.

Sung-Hyun moves into an empty house, he lays a block to spray the name of the house that he has just called home Il Mare. He discovers the card that Eun-ju has left behind, and is confused by the letter as he is currently in 1997. He writes back to Eun-ju, politely suggesting that she may have made a mistake as he is the first tenant of Il Mare, and he is unable to assist her in her request, and dates the letter 1997.

After further correspondence, both Eun-ju and Sung-Hyun realize that they are corresponding on same dates but over 2 different time dimensions, aided by the magical mailbox. And both embark on an amazing journey together.

Unlike many movies that feature such themes, where the leads either never meet or meet at the end, Sung-Hyun is able to catch a glimpse of how Eun-ju looks like in 1997 as the time difference is only 2 years and with Eun-ju diligently keeping a dairy, However, Sung-Hyun is just a stranger to the Eun-ju of 1997.

When both decide that it is time to meet at the same time dimension, it will have meant a fruition of their relationship. However, Sung-Hyun did not show up on the agreed date, and both are puzzled why he missed the appointment, and started to wonder what happened to Sung-Hyun during those 2 years.

And then, Eun-ju bumps into her ex-fiance. All the emotions she felt for him resurfaced as painful memories of the times together flood her entire brain. In a desperate attempt to get her ex-fiance back, she writes to Sung-Hyun to help her. Devastated by Eun-ju's request, Sung-Hyun is thrown back into the darkness that he left. He has fallen in love with Eun-ju, and her letters and encouragement have lifted him. After struggling for a while, seeing Eun-ju's happy relationship with her ex-fiance in 1998, and realising that his relationship with Eun-ju's will never be, Sung-Hyun decides to help her.

Sung-Hyun writes his last letter to Eun-ju, agreeing to help. He thanks Eun-ju for coming into his life, and bids his final farewell in the letter.

On the day in 1998 that Sung-Hyun is supposed to help Eun-ju to stop her ex-fiance from leaving, Eun-ju in 2000 finds out that Sung-Hyun actually died in a car accident on his way to help her. Overwhelmed by the thought that Sung-Hyun died for her, Eun-ju rushes to Il Mare to stop Sung-Hyun. She leaves her last letter in the mailbox, kneels and prays that Sung-Hyun receives the letter.…

Did he recieve the letter in time to prevent the fatal accident? Watch to find out...^_^

Found out that 'The Lake House' is a re-make of the korean movie 'Il Mare'. Finished watching 'Il Mare' only just because in the afternoon YouTube was undergoing maintenance. The movie was beautiful, the plot, the scenery and the house was all portrayed very nicely. I have seen reviews on the english version (Lake House) that had comparison with regards to Il Mare, Il Mare was better. I cannot second on that because I have not watch Lake House yet. The plot was very moving although in the beginning was a little fuzzy but afterwards it becomes all clear. I will be leaving the synopsis/review later. Take a read, a little long though... ^_^ I am also currently finding more pictures of the house filmed but no luck so far.

The Classic (2002)

Ji-hae and Soo-kyoung are friends attending the same university and both have a crush on Sang-min who is in their drama club. The more clamorous and outgoing of the two, Soo-kyoung, asks Ji-hae to do her a favor - write a love letter to Sang-min. Ji-hae pours out her own feelings for him on paper, but sadly in her friend's name. Touched by the letter, Sang-min is attracted to Soo-kyoung, and Ji-hae, feeling uncomfortable and even guilty, tries to avoid him. And yet by coincidence or by fate she keeps running into him.

Ji-hae has lived alone with her mom since her childhood, when her dad unexpectedly passed away. Her mom is now on a trip abroad, and to wile away her solitude she starts cleaning the attic. There Ji-hae finds a secret box, in which her mom kept the memorabilia of her first love story of some decades past.

Summer in 1968...

Joon-ha is visiting his uncle's home in the countryside during his summer vacation. There he meets Joo-hee and falls in love at first sight. One day, the lovely Joo-hee secretly asks Joon-ha to escort her to a haunted house in the village. Happy and excited to be at her service, Joon-ha meets her at their promised spot. But in an unexpected storm, the two lose their boat and barely manage to return home at a very late hour. Joo-hee gets into big trouble for this incident and is sent back to Seoul. Having parted with Joo-hee without a word of farewell, Joon-ha spends the rest of the summer heavy-hearted.

With summer vacation being over Joon-ha also returns to Seoul. At school, his classmate Tae-su asks him to write a love letter to send to a girl. And who would it be but Joo-hee, Joon-ha's dream girl. Unable to confess his own summer love story, Joon-ha reluctantly complies with his friend's request.

"When the sun shines on the sea, I think of you."

"When the dim moonlight is on the spring, I think of you."

It's been a week since I quitted the job at P.T. The month is ending soon and have been slacking at home since last week. Watched loads of movies and drama series. In two weeks time another cycle of school life will start. Just finished watching The Classic... Cried my eyes out now a little tired. I guess tomorrow then watch another melodrama, need to rest my eyes now.
The above description of the movie took me so long to finish as the photographs won't cooperate with me. T_T

Just came back. Attended a farewell dinner for another colleague (Daniel) at Novena Square Fish & Co. Ate fish and chips, the fish was very nice but the service there sucks. One of my colleagues (Irene) helped me to get another slice of lemon for the fish but it never came. There were also times when we call out to the waiter/waitress, they just walked away, whether they heard it or not I am not too sure though. The guys wanted to go clubbing after the dinner, I wanted to go home because I wanted to sleep (yawned all the way back while on the train) and had work tomorrow too. Wasn't too keen on clubbing either, never been to one and don't think will be going to one because of the cigarette smoke. Pubs maybe, but not now, wait till I can hold my liquor well haa-haa.

I have had let Panic through my mind. Stupidity and self-condemning is starting to sink in. This evening I think I have done a very impulsive thing. I left the company at around 1814 hours. I was about to exit out to Hoy Fatt Road when I was approached by one young man and a middle-aged woman. The man was about in his mid or late twenties, had semi-shoulder length hair, had almond-shaped face, he was wearing a pale blue (I think there are stripes) collar-ed shirt, around 170 in height because I have to tilt my head up to talk, not skinny or fat. The woman was in a black top and shorter, plump too, taller as compared to me by a few centimeters, had black stains in between her teeth, quite a oval wrinkled face and had small silted eyes when she smiled.

What happened:
As I have mentioned above, I was about to exit out to Hoy Fatt Road when approached by them. They said that they were from China; here in Singapore to visit some relatives but upon reaching found out that their relatives had traveled to Hong Kong. So now they were penniless and "begged" me to help them out. They continued relating their situation to me even when I told them I was in a rush and that I had parents waiting at the station for me (it was actually a lie which I thought I could get away with). **This was roughly the scenario because they had really heavy accented mandarin and I could only understand and recognize some. In the end I took out $10 and gave them and quickly left the area.

After that I called one of my colleagues (Christine) who's still inside the company and told her what happen and asked if they did go past the company. She told me that I shouldn't have given them $10. After that I started feeling uneasy and the scenario kept repeating in my head and I kept thinking of the various possibilities of how I could have avoided them. The worst thing is that when they were talking to me I have totally forgot that the moment I stepped out of the company's gate, to my right, there's a police car parked up the slope and the police was doing their rounds. That flew out of my mind. I should have just referred the couple to the police!!! (T_T) Oh man, the more I think, the more stupid I think I am.

Right now, I am trying to console myself by thinking that they really needed the money and that I have done a good deed instead of a stupid act.

This morning went over to my brother's new flat. Hmm... Was a bit disappointed because I saw the floorplan of the flat beforehand and expected it to be a bit bigger than the actual size. Maybe because my previous house in Yishun was also a five-room flat and was almost 1/3 larger than my brother's flat that's why I was disappointed. One of my family's friend whose a contractor also went down and he'll be doing the renovations. Didn't really go and listen to his explanations because this is afterall my brother's house and if comments were made it would be inappropriate, right?

Today also the first time we had Pizza Hut delivery to our house. Had Aloha and BBQ Hawaiian pizza for dinner. I don't quite like the Aloha, the lime mayo was a bit too much for me, other than that it was ok. The BBQ Hawaiian had pineapple chunks and "Ba-gua" on it. It was okay to say, at least better than Aloha I think.

The state of my room now is like a mess. Apparently my mom and dad moved all the items from the tenant's room to mine. Since my grandmother has passed on, the room has been empty as everything had been cleared away. Extra items like boxes of containers and other appliances belonging to my dad had been stored away in the room. Then on April, my dad decided to rent the room out to help one of his friend's nephew (I think). So from then on, being at home is not really comfortable although the tenant comes back at around 9 or 10 plus at night. But still his room is just beside mine. I have to go through all the trouble of locking my room door every night before I sleep. My family thought that it would only be a temporary stay for 3 months so they just moved all the items stored in the room to one corner. The bad news (from my view-point) is that his brother is coming back from Japan after staying there for one year and he has not found any suitable room to rent yet. So... Guess what. My dad agreed to let him stay over at our place first while they can slowly look for another place and in the meantime they can consider if they are going to continue staying in this place or to look for another place... SOB!!! The male population in my home is already high; I don't think I need any more addition to the already high population... Oh!! Why isn't the tenant a girl or a lady...?

I didn't go to work today because this morning was not feeling well. The worst part was that I thought I would be feeling better but I have got this headache that won't go away. Right now I dread the thought of going to work tomorrow. Hope that by then I will be all okay.
