Today was not a very pleasant day. I shall start complaining now... This afternoon after my lunch with my reception partner, there was this cabby. He was downright horrendous. The situation: He came in demanding his security deposit for his taxi because he has terminated his driving contract with the company. That time I called him and asked if he would like to collect it or to bank in the amount. He said he would like us to help him bank in. Then today he suddenly appeared wanting his cheque. I was told to call the main office in Balmoral to check if the cheque was ready and it was. What was needed was a colleague to go down to collect it. But the cabby was so impatient that he wants the cheque to appear miraculously on his hands. I had to explain to him about the banking-in procedures three times and he still won't listen. I told him if he wants the cheque he would have to wait till the colleague returns from the office in Balmoral. Guess what he replied to that... "What if he dies on the way back?" At that moment, I blew my top on him. We are already doing a favour by helping him transfer the money over and he dared to say such things. I guess my reception partner was shocked by my reaction at that time because so far I have not shown my temper to anyone but in this case it was just too much. How could he say such a thing??!! A million thanks to her in defending me after I left the reception area to find out if anyone made their way down to Balmoral. After I left everything was so blur, the finance lady from the Balmoral office called and tried to speak to me, outside was filled with cabbies. When I came back, my partner was on the phone with the office lady and I was told the cheque was banked in. I felt like the world was collapsing all because this stupid cabby couldn't wait for two day for the bank to process his money. Lucky there were senior staffs present to help me. In the end, he was pulled out of the reception area by one of the senior staff and he helped to diffuse the situation. Other colleagues heard the scenario and told me that he has attitude problems. -_-'' That was such a down-er for today.
But later in the day, an insurance lady bought us Delifrance pastries and tarts for us. My mood by that time was already better because I get to eat away the frustrations from earlier. =)
Ok... Now for something light-hearted. Yesterday at around 5pm. The Deputy Manger suddenly wants to talk to me. I frozed. At that time, my mind was on auto-mode in searching if I have had done anything wrong. "Do you know how to make coffee?" was the question asked. I should have had a blur look on my face because he asked the question two times. I manage to recover from the shock and replied that I do not know how to cause I do not drink coffee but drink only tea or milk tea. Now it was his turn to have the blur look. The expression was so hilarious I wanted to laugh out loud. Apparently I was told that he missed his coffee. The nickname I had for that day was "Coffee-girl".
